East Valley Lyrical/Worship (ages 8+)

Service Description

Lyrical/Dance Worship Class Description: In this class, we will develop fluidity of movement as students work on their spatial and body awareness, floor work, leaps, turns, use of body weight, and individual artistry. This class also heavily focuses on movement as a form of worship. We will spend time moving to different passages in scripture and prepare our hearts to lean towards what the Holy Spirit might have for us as we dance. This class will also consist of improvisational movement as the Spirit leads. Lyrical/Dance Worship Class Layout: We will begin each class with prayer and worship. Students will spend a few minutes in scripture as we set the focus of our time together. We will then transition to center for warmup as well as various stretch and strengthening exercises. After our bodies are nice and warm, we will learn short combinations and choreography across the floor. Students will then be led in various worshipful and prayerful movement exercises. Lyrical/Dance Worship Attire: Girls may wear a dance leotard or t-shirt with leggings or athletic pants/shorts and cotton socks. Their hair must be pulled up and out of their face in some way. Boys may wear a t-shirt with athletic pants or shorts and cotton socks.
